I find inspiration walking my dogs by the Hudson riverside in Peekskill and searching for interesting pieces of driftwood to use in my work. I currently make OAK sun-catchers, wind-chimes, and jewelry from the repurposed vintage glass beads, vintage rosary, chandelier crystals, and the Hudson River driftwood. I use wire to string these elements and hang them from the driftwood. I will either paint the driftwood to compliment the colors of the strands with acrylic/enamel paint (and old nail polish) or sand and oil the wood to bring out its natural beauty. I then spray it with sealant to protect it. I call the finished pieces “window jewelry”. I also make earrings with similar materials. In support of my daughter, I will also feature her handmade buttons and Pokémon card earrings.
