Trust & safety

We're building a safe place to sell.

How VendorsMap protects vendors and organizers from fraud and what happens when things go wrong.

Our Commitment

VendorsMap is built for honest vendors and organizers. We take fraud seriously and actively work to keep scammers off the platform. If something goes wrong, we will make it right.

Member Scam Protection Promise

VendorsMap Members are covered by our Scam Protection Promise. If you find an event on the platform that turns out to be a scam, we reimburse you up to $500 per incident and $1,000 per member per year. Claims must be filed within 90 days of payment.

Coverage applies regardless of how you paid the organizer (Venmo, Zelle, wire transfer, etc.), as long as you found the event on VendorsMap and were a Member at the time of payment.

Fraud Policy

Any organizer or user found to be operating a fraudulent event, collecting payments for non-existent events, misrepresenting event details, or engaging in deceptive practices will face the following actions:

  • Immediate account suspension and permanent ban from VendorsMap.
  • Full refund to any vendor who paid through the platform for a fraudulent event. VendorsMap will cover the refund if necessary.
  • Notification to all affected vendors with details about the situation.
  • Referral to law enforcement. We will report fraudulent activity to local and federal authorities, including the FTC and state attorney general, and will cooperate fully with any investigation.
  • Legal action. VendorsMap reserves the right to pursue civil action against fraudulent users to recover damages and protect our community.

Refund Policy

If you paid for a booth through VendorsMap and the event turns out to be fraudulent or is canceled by the organizer:

  • Payments made through VendorsMap will be refunded in full. Contact us and we will process the refund within 5 business days.
  • Payments made off-platform (Venmo, PayPal, cash, etc.) are outside our ability to refund directly. This is one reason we require all payments to go through VendorsMap. We will still help you report the fraud and pursue recovery.

Payment Policy

All booth fee payments must be processed through VendorsMap. Off-platform payments (Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, cash, etc.) are strictly prohibited. This protects both vendors and organizers: payments through VendorsMap are tracked, refundable, and covered by our fraud policy. Off-platform payments have no protection.

Paid Promoter Terms

Organizers who pay to promote an event (Spotlight, Spotlight + Email, or Premium tiers via /promote) are held to a higher standard than free listings. By purchasing a promotion, you commit to:

  • No misleading information about your event, fees, dates, attendance, or organizer identity.
  • No discrimination, harassment, or fraud against vendors.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries received through your promotion within a reasonable window.

Violations result in immediate listing and account termination, no refund.

How We Verify Organizers

  • All organizer accounts must be based in the United States.
  • Events must have a verifiable physical location within the US.
  • We review new organizer accounts and flag suspicious activity.
  • Organizers who collect payments are required to connect a verified Stripe account, which includes identity verification.

How to Report a Scam

If you believe an event or organizer on VendorsMap is fraudulent, contact us immediately at jmcwbusiness3@gmail.com. Include the event name, organizer name, and any details about what happened. We will investigate within 24 hours and take action.
