Our story
What the Sleuth!? is a woman-owned independent mystery bookstore based in Santa Monica, California. We began selling books in 2026 and specialize in thoughtfully curated selections of noir, thrillers, suspense, cozy mysteries, and true crime. Inspired by Old Hollywood noir and the literary history of Los Angeles, our bookstore celebrates diverse voices, emerging authors, and hidden literary gems. Our distinctive detective-themed branding and carefully selected titles create a unique shopping experience for mystery lovers and readers searching for their next favorite book.
