My project originally began with a desire to help my grandson develop financial literacy. As I worked on it, I realized there were many other practical lessons young people could benefit from learning before entering adulthood. That project eventually became The Secret Sauce of Life: Lessons Every Teenager Should Learn Before Life Teaches Them the Hard Way, a 285-page book published October 16, 2026. Through relatable stories and conversations featuring a grandmother, her two grandsons, and the family dog, the book addresses first paychecks, budgeting, saving, credit, investing, work ethics, friendships, respect, personal responsibility, and other important life lessons. I believe storytelling can help make these subjects approachable, especially for teenagers who might not be interested in reading a traditional financial textbook.
