Vendor Events in Ottumwa, IA

Craft and vendor market held 2nd and 4th Saturdays April-October at St. Paul Lutheran Church featuring art, baked goods, fresh produce, and handmade items.

Southeast Iowa's downtown Ottumwa comes alive on Saturday mornings during the growing season at this weekly farmers market. Running from May through October, the Ottumwa Farmers Market sets up along Market Street and Main Street, taking advantage of the scenic location near the Des Moines River. The early 7:30 AM start time means serious shoppers can arrive early to pick through the best seasonal selections before the mid-day heat sets in, with the market wrapping up at noon. Like most farmers markets, this is where local growers bring their freshest harvests directly to customers. You'll find the classic farmers market mix: produce vendors selling whatever's in season, from spring greens and asparagus through summer tomatoes, peppers, and corn, into fall squash and root vegetables. Beyond the produce stands, the market typically hosts bakers offering fresh bread, pastries, and other baked goods, plus local artisans selling value-added items like jams, honey, sauces, and crafted goods that complement the farm-fresh focus. The atmosphere at a weekly farmers market like this one draws a steady stream of regulars who shop the same day each week, along with tourists and visitors exploring downtown Ottumwa. It's the kind of market where vendors build relationships with their customers over the season, and where you're likely to see the same faces week after week. The downtown location along the river makes it a natural gathering spot for the community, blending commerce with the slower pace of a Saturday morning. If you're a produce vendor, baker, or maker of farm-adjacent products, the Ottumwa Farmers Market represents a solid weekly opportunity throughout the five-month season. The consistent Saturday schedule and established foot traffic make it a reliable spot for building a local customer base in southeast Iowa.
