Rachel Sharn Fine Art

I make acrylic paintings of western life primarily on canvas or canvas board but like to explore other surfaces as well including small jewelry boxes, cow bones, and leather. I use reference photographs from my time working on a cattle ranch and photographs from my life in Colorado exploring the outdoors. My work draws from honest blue collar work and respect for the land that has raised generations and feeds the population of the United States. I am drawn to the quiet still moments that are found amidst ranch work such as a new foal having the internal struggle between curiosity and fear, a cow that takes a breath to look back at you during a long cattle drive, or a small break while the next cowboy waits his turn in the branding pen.
