Mud sparked passion into L.A. based Bikolana artist, Mira Zeta Garcia. Born in the Philippines, she is inspired by traditional Filipino ceramic ware and functionality. For over 3 years, she enjoys exploring intricate shapes, sharp angles, and standing between the line of function and beauty. You can find careful carvings and sculptural elements in attachments to the vessels, allowing a personal feel of the hands that created it. For Garcia, the connection to clay and the way it challenges her ideas of how something should be done is what drives her creativity. Her pieces are birthed from curiosity and play. The final look is just a cherry on top and is always a surprise.
