Sweet Danes Pottery

With rich bodied clays fired in oxidation, I make collector worthy mugs and serving-ware decorated with sculpture, sprigs and glaze illustrations to create sensory narratives for their users. Each piece is one of a kind due to the nature of the clay, glazes, mini sculptures, and firing. Though I started pottery in college in the late 80s, I spent years with other careers; Tattooing, River Rescue, Coaching Masters Swimming, and teaching Yoga. After moving to NC in 2018, I took community classes to learn more about firing and glazing, then became a mostly full-time potter in 2019 and outfitted my studio in 2020. When I'm not making pottery, I'm swimming, biking, tattooing, or living life in a yurt on the fruit farm with my partner and Great Danes. Awards: Panoply in Huntsville AL, Merit Award for ceramics. Lazy Daze in Cary NC, the Jerry Miller award for best in class, as well as another award for best in North Carolina. At Art on Main Hendersonville, 1st place for High Craft.
