Our story

My name is Mayra Senties and I'm the owner of Cafe Jarocha. My business is inspired by my roots in Veracruz, México. I wanted to bring the flavor of Veracruz to San Francisco through Cafe Jarocha and the Volovanes . I’ve had a passion for cooking since I was a little girl. My Abuelita taught me many recipes, and I remember sitting at the table with my family every day to enjoy our meals, that I would help them cook. Cafe Jarocha has always been my dream for a long time. I dreamed of having my own business and I've worked hard to make that dream a reality. Before, my children were my priority. I spent a lot of time taking care of my family, but now I realize this is my time to push myself to build a business . I want to bring the flavor of veracruz to San Francisco through our delicious volovanes. Volovan is a traditional snack I would describe it as a flaky homemade puff pastry square - shape and filled with traditional stews such as chicken, tuna and ham and cheese- as well as sweet filling like homemade pineapple jam, guava-cream cheese, I want to introduce people to something they may have never tried before: for me represents family, memories, tradition and love. I want Cafe Jarocha to be a place where people can experience a little piece of veracruz ,even if they have never been there .My goal is to bring people together through food and create an experience that feels traditional, welcoming and full of flavors. As a latina woman and small business owner ,I also want to inspire other people to believe in their dreams .Cafe Jarocha is my way of sharing my roots, my passion and my love for cooking with the community. I want every person who tries my food to taste not only the flavor of Veracruz ,but also the love and story behind it.
