The House of Āhvān

My work brings together my love for art, design, Indian artistic traditions, the landscapes of Atlantic Canada, and sustainability. I create original paintings inspired by the beauty of Atlantic Canada, the ocean, coastlines, lighthouses, rocks, wildlife, and surrounding landscapes, while incorporating inspiration from Indian art forms in my own contemporary style. I am interested in creating a connection between the place I live now and the artistic influences that have shaped me. Alongside my paintings, I create handmade, high-end home décor pieces by giving everyday materials, including used plastic containers, a new purpose. Rather than seeing these materials only as waste, I explore how they can be transformed into beautiful and thoughtfully designed decorative pieces. Sustainability is an important part of my creative process, while maintaining a refined and artistic finish. I am currently at the very beginning of my journey as a small creative business, and this vendor event will be a particularly meaningful milestone for me. It will be my first time introducing my work and my business to the community, as well as my very first vendor experience. I am excited to share something that I have created personally and to meet people who appreciate handmade art, thoughtful design, cultural influences, and sustainable creativity. Everything I create is designed and handmade by me in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in small quantities, with a focus on originality, craftsmanship, sustainability, and the story behind each piece. My hope is to create artwork and décor that not only looks beautiful in a home but also gives people something meaningful to connect with.
