Authentic Akua

I am a creative entrepreneur building and expanding two independent business ventures: Authentic Akua and Silk & Sonnets. Authentic Akua is my established, Black woman-owned handmade adornment business, rooted in my Sierra Leonean and Ghanaian heritage. It specializes in waist beads, handmade jewelry, accessories and culturally inspired products. My goal is to continue growing its customer base, expanding its collections, strengthening its retail presence and developing it into a recognizable and sustainable brand. Silk & Sonnets is my future creative expansion into the literary and lifestyle market. With an interest in books, poetry, stationery, artistic expression and curated lifestyle products, I envision developing a brand that celebrates creativity, literature and the beauty of everyday rituals. My broader ambition is to build a portfolio of independent creative businesses that reflect my interests, cultural background and entrepreneurial goals while allowing each brand to develop its own identity and audience.
