Makemba Ancestral, LLC is a Black-owned, family-run hair care company headquartered in Pennsylvania and operating in partnership with Makemba Ancestral SAS in Cali, Colombia—home to one of the largest Afro-descendant populations in Latin America. We create premium products for curly, coily and Afro-textured hair that combine ancestral knowledge with modern cosmetic science. Our hero ingredient is Chebe, a blend of seeds, resins and herbs used for generations by Basara women in Chad to keep their hair long and strong. Our chemical engineer co-founder adapts it into functional formulas that help retain moisture, reduce breakage and improve elasticity. Our Ritual Chebe line is registered with INVIMA, Colombia's health authority. Beyond products, we educate our community about textured hair, ingredients and cultural heritage.
