Hi, I’m Derek. I’m an Indianapolis-based photographer, an avid traveler, a lifelong animal lover, and a storyteller at heart. Photography, to me, is the art of capturing the unseen stories around us. I didn't pick up a camera for accolades or financial gain; I did it because I love people, animals, culture, and the fleeting moments that make life beautiful. My journey into photography is driven purely by passion. For me, a camera isn't just a tool to make a living; it’s my medium for storytelling. I am dedicated to capturing real, artistic moments that allow others to see the world through my lens. If my imagery can evoke a feeling or make someone smile, then I’ve done my job. The name of my business holds a very special place in my heart. Piper Grace was our "soul dog"—that once-in-a-lifetime companion who changed our lives forever. Naming this venture after her felt like the perfect way to honor her memory by connecting her name to another great love of my life: photography. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, my wife and I relocated to Indianapolis in 2017. By day, I am a retail leader with 16 years of dedication to the same company, while my wife works as a healthcare professional. When I am not working, you can usually find me volunteering at our local animal shelter, exploring a new place, experiencing new cultures, or camping. Right now, I am actively building my portfolio and exploring a wide variety of photography styles.
