My work is created using traditional needlepoint techniques in a less traditional way. I hand-stitch directly onto canvas using the basketweave stitch, but I never work from a pattern, painted canvas, or guide. I call my process “free-stitching.” I allow each composition to develop intuitively, stitch by stitch, translating memories of landscapes, moments from my travels, nature, music, color, and emotion into fiber. Some pieces become recognizable landscapes, while others evolve into abstract patterns driven by rhythm and movement. Because nothing is pre-drawn or charted, every piece develops organically and is entirely one of a kind.
