Most vendors track their gross sales but forget to subtract the full cost of doing a show. Booth fees, gas, lodging, food, and the raw materials in every item you sold all come out of that number. This calculator gives you the real picture so you can decide which shows deserve a spot on your calendar and which ones are costing you money.

The COGS slider accounts for the materials, packaging, and supplies baked into each sale. If you spend roughly $3 on materials for every $10 item you sell, set it to 30%. Combined with your out-of-pocket show expenses, this gives you a true net profit and a profit margin you can actually benchmark against.

Use the Hours Worked field to see your effective hourly rate. Many vendors are surprised to find they are earning less than minimum wage at their least profitable shows. Knowing your rate helps you set a minimum acceptable return before you commit to an application fee or a long drive.
